Description
Simoné Goldschmidt-Lechner will participate online, while Irene Zanol and Rebekka Zeinziger will be present on site.
Simoné Goldschmidt-Lechner writes about nerd cultures on the basis of personal experiences. They make them real and understandable and encourage us to rethink the image of the nerd as a highly intelligent, albeit “asocial” computer fan. The author is interested in online fan cultures, horror from a post-migrant perspective and language in video games.
The most recent book Nerd Girl Magic concentrates on nerd and geek culture from a non-white, non-male perspective. Goldschmidt-Lechner writes about the magic girl genre, gaming culture, alternative realities, fantasy and Sci-Fi as well as pro-wrestling and the Korean wave from South Korea with K-pop and K-drama. They analyse in an amusing way films, series, games, comics, anime, manga and genre literature like Sailor Moon, Buffy, Star Trek and also Dark Academia. Is queerness automatically inherent to these fan cultures? Is the culture of nerds and Internet freaks a utopian place of retreat for queer people?
